After a very poor view of the Black-browed Albatross at Bempton, a Red-tailed Shrike just south of the reserve seemed like a good excuse to give Albert another go.ppl The shrike was perched up on cue as I parrived, but remained in the hedgerow somewhat distantly and a very poor record shot only was obtained. Red-tailed Shrike With the shrike in the bag, I walked back to Staple Newk and people were watchingp the albatross some way out. I thought it was going to be a replay of the previous year, but it proceeded to gain height before doing an amazing fly past of the viewing point. Amazing bird! Black-browed Albatross On the way back we dropped into North Notts for one of the rare long-staying Caspian Terns. The bird was along the excellent Slaynes Lane, which is becoming one of the foremost sites in the county. I watched the bird at clos(ish) range and it was nice to see it both on the deck and in flight. Caspian Tern
